Replacing the hammer spring in your 2240/2250/2289 with a stronger one will increase the velocity of your gun by around 25 fps but It will also lower the amount of shots you get per CO2 cartridge. This does not matter if you use bulk fill.

Go to your local with the original hammer spring, find a stronger spring, cut it to the same length as the original (or a bit longer) and replace!

If anyone is planing to replace the hammer spring in there 22XX and is having a problem finding a replacement spring they can order the old style hammer spring for the C9, 392 or 397 made before Jan 1999 which is p/n 397-045,I used one I had left over from a C9 in my 2260 and it works fine, is stronger and longer then present spring in 22XX. Increased velocity a avaraged of 28 fps in the 2260. Cost less shipping is $.50 ea. from Crosman.
